Im new so dont yell if this is a stupid or reoccurring problematic question.I did search first.
I have a 1982 F-150 4X4 inline 6 cylinder.I have bought a hayes manual but its a piece of *****.What I would like to find is a diagram showing and explaining all the vaccuum lines that are there in the engine compartment. If anyone knows what lines can be removed and still function correctly or better would be helpful.I am not concerned with removing smog control stuff of that nature because it is mainly a off road vehical. If possible I would like to simplfy the vaccuum lines any info would be helpful.
I also would like to relay my headlights is there a how to guide using wire color codeing.
You can't really remove any of the lines, without causing problems somewhere else. You could possibly remove the smog pump stuff, but I would leave the rest on there, unless you are going to go with an aftermarket carb or something like that.
If the tune of the engine is completely stock, It will not help taking anything off, and may make it run worse and cause detonation(ping).
There is usually a sticker under the hood that shows the vacuum line hookups.
But unless you are really going all high performance, aftermarket ignition and carb, don't bother. You will not gain anything and you will make your truck harder to sell.
As far as the Haynes repair manual goes...keep in mind it is for repairs to a stock vehicle only. It will not tell you how to "trick out" any part of the vehicle. For the type of modifications you want to make you'll have to go to some of the many "Hi Performance" mags/sites. IMHO
I have an 83 300 vacuum line chart I developed myself, so I could redo all the lines.
I suspect the 82 is the same. I'd like $4 including shipping for a copy.
At least for wiring diagrams, Haynes manual says '80 & '81 are same and '82 & '83 are same. Probably true for vacuum diagrams, too but I don't know for sure.
