I have a 1986 F-250 w/6.9L diesel. Day before yesterday I started it up and moved it into the driveway to load it up, when I went to move it out of the driveway 5 minutes later it would turn over but not fire. the next morning I tried to start it and it fired right off the bat. drove it to the dump, stopped a few times on the way home and parked it. 1 hour later I tried to fire it and nothing but cranking(no fire). cracked the injector lines and no fuel while cranking. retightened all injector lines, replaced air cleaner and tried to crank it again, it fired! Turned it off and tried it again and nothing. would an injector pump act this way before taking a complete dump? now the truck wont start at all. I really need this truck for work but I am having a hard time spending $1000. on an injector pump as a hit or miss. Please help. When running, runs strong and fires on 1/2 revolution day or night.

the fuel shut off solenoid is the on with the two wires at the right side front of the IP isnt it?
what is the single yellow wire behind that for?
thanks
The single wire is the timing advance it is on the same circuit as the fast idle and no power goes to them after engine temp reaches 112*F. There should be power on a cold engine to advance and fast idle.
there is not power at the timing advance wire on the cold engine or at any time now, could this be my problem? and if so where do I go to find the cause of no power with out tearing my wire loom apart and following the wire to the next connection? Thank you for the input!
Big help!
I noticed recently, while under the truck replacing u joints that there was diesel above the front tank under the bed (I figured it was from topping it off at the pump and splashing out the vent). Also I noticed, when it died and I was under the hood that the two front injectors were wet around them, I cant imagine this would cause the pump to stop pumping though, but then again I really dont know much about injetion pumps or diesels for that matter. thanks for the input though!
I think the guys a Napa were trying to burn me!!! they told me they could not get the less expensive ones they showed on the computer screen. Thank you for your input! I would still like to know more about how these things work though.
