intermittent starting problems???
I have a 1986 F-250 w/6.9L diesel. Day before yesterday I started it up and moved it into the driveway to load it up, when I went to move it out of the driveway 5 minutes later it would turn over but not fire. the next morning I tried to start it and it fired right off the bat. drove it to the dump, stopped a few times on the way home and parked it. 1 hour later I tried to fire it and nothing but cranking(no fire). cracked the injector lines and no fuel while cranking. retightened all injector lines, replaced air cleaner and tried to crank it again, it fired! Turned it off and tried it again and nothing. would an injector pump act this way before taking a complete dump? now the truck wont start at all. I really need this truck for work but I am having a hard time spending $1000. on an injector pump as a hit or miss. Please help. When running, runs strong and fires on 1/2 revolution day or night.

If you don't get an answer in here, you might want to try asking in the "Pre-Power Stroke Diesel Engine forum". A lot of good knowledge about diesel stuff in there.................and welcome to FTE..........
