Unhappy v10 knocking

To begin with I have heard discussions on Flutter, piston slap, and all kind of discussions on octane ratings causing knocking when towing. None of the problems seem to fully describe my problem. I never use the truck for towing. The other night I was driving home with the radio up way to loud, pulled into driveway and heard a squeeling, opened hood to inspect and heard knocking also. Turned it off and let cool. Started up fine and took it half way around block and it died and would not start. Left it over night. started it the next morning and pulled it into driveway. I have the knocking all through the RMPs and it gets louder the more you accelerate. I have changed the oil and filter twice. Pulled plugs individually to narrow down cylinder, but to no avail. It is always knocking.
PLEASE HELP!

By the way.....The knocking does not sound like a rod as I have heard rods. I dont think it is loud enough.

Any direction is much appreciated.

to find out where the knocking is comming from, try using a long screw driver. By putting the tip of the screw driver on the valve cover, and various other places, putting the other end against your ear, and cupping it so that the sound comming from the vavle cover to the end of the screw driver is isolated. If you do this while it is making the noise you should hear it at the end of the screw driver. try this where it sounds like the noise is comming from. when you narrow down the area it will make it easier. You could have a fuel knock. Try doing this on each injector. If you narrow it down to one, then lossen that one. If the knock goes away then replace that injector. Gl

Welcone to FTE

We need more specific truck info

It does not sound like something simple so DO NOT drive this truck untill you get it sorted out.

Who changed the oil? Are you sure it is the correct weight?

Where do you think the squeel was coming from?

Pulling each plug with a COP system is very involved so I assume you know your way around the engine bay.

Give us more info and we will try helping diagnose it

Exclamation sorry

I am running a 99 Ford f250 6.8L V10 with 129000k on it. I know lot of miles but I have heard of alot of guys going alot more than that.

I am about to go work on the truck right know and see if I can narrow it down and give you guys more information.

By "pulling the plugs", I meant pulling the electrical connector to each spark plug so that the cylinder was not firing one by one. The "squeeling" I have no idea where it comes from. I have never heard anything like it before. It was pretty awful.

I am going to try everything I can before taking it in. I really can't afford it.
I am pulling codes today from a hand held scanner and see what happens.

thanks guys

That many miles ,have you ever changed the plugs?
If not start by taking the coils of the plugs one at a time, very carefully incase one popped out an you won't knock dirt in the cylinder .My bet you popped a plug!
you will see it right a way the coil is usually loose .
