Smog Head Porting

How do go about filling the holes from the smog parts after I port? How will the smog hole affect the porting job?

You mean in the cylinder heads? I have a set of FE cylinder heads, that have the smog holes in the exhaust port. What you do, is go to the hardware store and find a bolt that fits it. IIRC, it's some kind of NPT thread. I could be wrong though. But yeah, find a bolt that fits the threads, of about the right length, and grind it flush on the inside of the port when you port the heads.

Those little babies were used to inject air into the exhaust flow, they should not effect your port job. You can also get some small hex-head plugs to fill those in (that's what mine has).

So porting these heads is the same as porting a non smog head?

Yes, the principles are the same. Smooth up, round off, polish up, and when applicable, hog out.

Just be sure those weren't strategically placed restrictions....
