then your either going to have to swap the pump and t-case cover,(which would be the easiest way to go), or find all the pulleys and brackets for the single serp system. And considering the year difference you may have to steal the PS pump and the alternator also.

PS. make sure the parts you steal are off a car with a smooth w/p pulley.

PPS. you can use either of the top 2 t-case covers, one has a dipstick and the other doesn't.

All of the 5.0's with a 1 belt serpentine system use a reverse flow pump. All 86-93 Mustangs have this as well as 87-up Mark VII's. Most 87-up trucks also use this set-up too.
Many Crown Vics, Town Cars, etc, use a standard flow system that uses 2 serpentine belts. You could get the timing cover off of one of these. Unless you want to try to get a n aftermarket pulley system from someone like March that has many custom set-ups that won't have the a/c or smog pump pulleys.

No can do boss, unless you run an electric fuel pump. All the fuelly's don't have fuel pump access on the t-case cover.

I believe that the reverse flow is designed to send the coolant thru the heads first and then the block unlike the older design. If your belt doesn't ride like the stock set-up did, it will be turning backwards. Try a pump for a 88 Lincoln Town Car. It will turn the right direction for your set-up. This is assuming that your belt around the outside of the crank, waterpump, alt and PS pump. If so, then try the Lincoln pump. I beleieve that your impeller may be backwards for your application.

You converted the pulley to smooth, but is the back of the belt riding on the pulley, or the front of the belt?

I did a quick search and this is all I found, this is a typical 302 reverse flow belt routing setup.

Ok well if your timing case is like the last pic then your all set with direction, pull your t-stat out and start it up, you should immediatly have very good flow threw the rad. If you don't the rad could be clogged, feel around on the core for cold spots after it warms up a bit.

another thought, do you have the reverse fan blade also?

LX the tcase is backwards as well, you can't put the wrong pump on the right tcase cover, but you can spin it the wrong way.

And SHORTY, I'm not convinced your sure about the t-case cover, are you looking at the shape of the inlets? that last cover in the set of 6 is the only reverse cover and it's because of the shape of the inlets holes. Are you positive you have the last one?

ok now im completely sure its the last one. checkd the fan its good! sucks instead of blowing it blows towards the engine and sucks throught the front. Im waiting on a water temp gauge to take it for a spin till it warms the water to the tempreture on the thermo to see if it passes water or not.
