Hi All! Haven't been on this site for a while but once again the winter season is upon us and I'm getting my 2000 f 350 v-10 ready.I start it up the other day and it's got this nasty mis more noticable under load.I went through this last year and it was a coil pack.My question is I believe that is the problem again, how do I figure out what coil it is w/o bringing to a shop.Is there a way I can diagnose and fix it myself?
Well ,I would invest in a scanner that reads misfires on the newer engines.or buy a new coil pack and swap out until you find the one thats bad.
But have you changed your plugs and boots lately?
Sometimes the boots burn through and alow the secondary spark take the shortest route to ground thus your misfire.
Another thought is if you have autozone close by they may scan for free and get the misfire cylinders for you.

Thanks Forty, I pulled the coil packs and all but one coil boot and spark plug hole was filled with water!Passanger side only.Funny thing is I never wash my engine I can't imagine how it got there? Well anyway I blew compressed air in the holes pulled the plugs dried them and installed 4 new coils.Probably didn't need them though. Thanks for the help.
Skirtchaser - You can't get away with that! You've got to have some clue as to how you got water 3 feet up.... If you haven't done anything unusual then we've all got a problem.
Barebones-The only thing that i can think of is that I do park in my secondary driveway wich at the end slightly tilts down and to the left.Maybe some water trickled into it that way?
Chk the seal at the back of your hood, maybe rain water running under the seal from coming down the windsheild while parked in that driveway.
The back of the hood might need to be adjusted down

I highly doubt the ac compressor or the lines running to the evap could fill the sparkplug holes with water. I have seen the heater hose on that side leak and drip in the last 2 plug holes though!
