vacuum problems

I have a 90 full-size bronco that I just rebuilt. My problem is that it idles a little high, and has no power. I have checked the timing, and its set to 10' BTC. I'm thinking it's one of the vacuum hoses, but don't know the exact way they were hooked up, if anyone could give me some pictures of the engine bay that would give me a good start. Thanks for all the help!

Which engine?

You really need a vacuum diagram for your vehicle, it's too hard to see proper hose routing from a pic.

You can try to find one online, but your best bet is to pick up a Haynes or Chilton's repair manual at just about any auto parts store. They have pretty good diagrams.

Well, I have the vacuum diagrams figured out, but the truck still has no power. I will recheck ignition timing and pull codes tommorow.

Maybe with the engine idling, get a spray bottle filled with water and carefully spray water on the vaccum hoses and fittings and see if you notice an increase in rpms.

Keep the water away from the electronics, though.

It's just an old trick I use along time ago, to find vacuum leaks.

No guarantee though.

Spray at your own risk.

Another trick I've used is a petroleum based product that is not harmful to rubber and checked for vacuum leaks. I'm gonna try that next.

From: Destin/Ft. Walton Beach,
Try a propane torch without being lit. I've never tried it, but I'm told it works.

Try this

I have used a spray can of ether also known as starting fluid or "hot shot".

Well I worked on it. I also found that all the vacuum hoses are shot. Any suggestions on what to do in this situation. The ford dealer doesn't sell vacuum lines for it anymore. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd say buy some bulk vacuum hose and replace them one at a time. You won't be able to use the neat Ford moulded-on connectors, but you can still stick the hose right on to the fittings.

Hard Lines

I intend to replace the vacuum lines on my E-150. I also found Ford cannot supply replacement plastic line.

As a substitute I am thinking about using small diameter steel tubing, brake line should do.

I probably will either paint the line color code on or with use colored shrink-fit.

The tubing will be attached with short lengths of vacuum hose. I have also seen some vacuum connectors at the local parts house that look almost stock.

What about using the tubing that they use for either air shocks or oil pressure gauges?
