You must have fixed it 'cause I just checked out your gallery. Nice work.
yes i fixed it, and thanks... as i told cookie, i wouldn't call it a good job... i took way too long, but, it turned out well, i learned alot, and i didn't break anything... so, all in all i would say it was a good project...
johnny8- nice pics of your install and your whole gallery for that matter. what suspisions told you your stock wheel was dusted. any symptoms for me to know since i dont know

i thought that i had seen some evidence of the wheel being dusted, but i don't think it was all that bad if it was at all... the problem that i have had is a seriously bad case of turbo flutter/stall when i was towing... the stock wheel is the biggest cause of this from all the info that i could gather... i know you can also improve the turbo housing on the compressor side, but that aftermarket housing is over $400, the ww is only $60 - $90... it's just that it is alot more work to install..! that's ok... i really like learning about my truck, it's just that sometimes it's hard for an old dog to learn something new..!
So did you go out and stand on the go-pedal and hear it scream?
ya know... i did... and i have no probs getting 26 lbs of boost.. i could get more if i wanted i think... but i didn't really think this wheel was much louder than my stock wheel... the note is a little different though... and the boost is much more even... she builds the boost quick and holds it strong..! i can't wait to tow up into the mountains again..!
Nice job!
Less black smoke means the wheel is responding with more air to the extra fuel much quicker now. It's great to actually see the difference yourself, than hear about it. And you did the job yourself laying on top of the engine which is backbreaking. Did the downpipe turbo clamp come off easily. When I watched my intaller remove the clamp, he squirted some WD40 after he loosened it, and the clamp started to make cracking noises as it unfroze from the grooves.

you are not kidding about laying on the motor being tough..! I AM SORE ALL OVER..! just goes to show how out of shape i am..! I've got sore muscles that i didn't even know i had..! as for the turbo clamp... i got a crow bar on it and it came lose pretty easy... i just took it easy tapping on it because i didn't want to break it... the other nice thing about this was the fact that i figured out that you do NOT have to take the wastegate actuator rod off of the wastegate, and you don't have to take the wastegate actuator off the compressor housing either... you just pull the housing back out of the way..!
