I recently had the front rotors and brake pads replaced on a 1995 Explorer 2WD. Ever since this repair, I can feel the brake pedal pulsating when applying the brakes. I know the pedal will pulsate when braking hard as the ABS activates but the sensation I am feeling occurs when gently braking. Any thoughts as to what this may be? Assume that this is not a warped rotor.
If the rotors were replaced with a cheap-o brand, they may very well be warped; that's usually the cause for a pulsating brake pedal. Have you contacted the tech who did the work?
If the tech over torqued the lugs, that can result in warped rotors. I would definitely take it back to him asap and get him to road test it with you in the car. As one of the earlier posts indicated, some of the cheaper rotors actually should be turned before they are put on.
