I am having serious problems with my Banks Sixgun, need help!!!!!
I have one of the gauge style for the 7.3's. Just this weekend the digital screen has started acting funny, displaying all sorts of jibberish and at times quitting altogether. I have checked all wires in and out of the SixGun, including power and ground. All connections are mechanically and electrically soild. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to when it goes off, sometimes it will work normally for a few seconds/minutes, then back to jibberish.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? The tech guy at BanksPower said it sounded like a software problem in the Sixgun unit and that they have had several 7.3 models fail with similar symptoms recently. And to top things off they won't warranty it because I bought it off of Ebay and am not the original purchaser.(note: unit has worked perfectly for last 6mo. since purchase) So I guess it's either purchase another Sixgun or have a 2" hole in my dash.....
I was planning on running it in the ODRA Diesel Dragrace this Saturday in Caddo Mills, TX to test out the traction bars I made for my truck but unless soembody knows a solution then I will have to be a spectator rather than a competitor.
Sorry for the long post but I had to vent to somebody.
Please Help!!!
I had a similiar problem with the Sixgun on my 7.3 about 4 months ago. Luckily I purchased mine directly from Banks and they sent me a new one in two days. If its any help to you, they told me it was a problem with the LED display and did not effect the tuner's ability to do its job. Of course, if you can't read the EGTs or Boost, you'd probably have a hard time racing it. Hope this helps some.
Asked Banks how much it will cost you to have them fix it, and also tell Banks that you are an active member of the FTE. They might feel customer oriented after that.
Good luck. James
Thanks for the help guys, I asked the Banks tech about sending it in for repairs but they said that it was non-repairable, if it goes out you just buy another one. And to think I thought I was getting a quality (expensive) product from a reputable brand. Anyhow, thanks for the replies guys,
