does anyone actually race their V10 superdutys at the dragstrip, and what kinda times are you getting? i'm thinking about bringing mine to gainesvilee or orlando speedworld for test and tune night, and just wondered what i can expect. thanks!
I finally found my 05 Fourwheeler magazine Jan 05 that gives 1/8 mile and quarter mile times for 6 new pickups. The ford V10 is the fastest full size beating out a Dodge Powerwagon that has a 4.56 rearend and the Ford has 4.10s, Both are automatics.
Ford's V10 1/8 time is 11.20 @ 65.05 MPH
Dodge Hem 1/8 time is 11.51 @ 61.44 MPH
V10 1/4 time is 17.37 @ 78.76
Hemi 1/4 time is 17.85 @ 74.85
Trolls from the competition forum, Can you read this. So many up there stating that the Hemi is smoking V10s all over the place. Trolls, dream on and a 4.30 V10 should look even better.

You don't actually expect them to compare apples to apples do ya?
With DC putting the "hemi" in everything bigger than the PT-Cruiser, it's not at all odd that "hemis" are smokin' V10s all over the place. The thing is that those "hemis" are in 2500 lb station wagons- not in 7500 lb Ram trucks.
try adding some goodies . 16.4 at 90.3 mph in the 1/4. but thats with headers. no a/f, custom sct excal2 set up on the rollers for 93 pump gas. open pipes and 56's. ya i'm cheating electric pipe dump on the custom center pipe.
60-0 braking times were all grouped in pretty close on an empty stop but with 1/2 payload in all of them the new 05 Ford outstopped everyone ....... by a lot.
Here's an example Dodge 60-0 empty 193.4 feet. Dodge loaded 189.6 ft.
Ford 60-0 empty 193.4 feet ..... Ford loaded 135.6 feet. WOW 54 FT less and this could be a life or death thing in many cases.
This is HUGE and if you put a slide in camper in a new Ford, put solid wood
against the front of the box and bring the camper right up to it to prevent the camper from sliding. These trucks stop a load extremely well.
I know it is not an serious issue because they were all not broken it but in that article the testers were not impressed with the V10 power...I really wish those same butt heads would get to do a test with the beast fully loosened up.
The other thing that ticked me off was the clear advantage in the braking test but again the testers used words like mushy or lacked authority...really? 54 feet less distance to stop a loaded truck and you think it lacks authority..gime a break!
I also noticed the test had a bunch of wimp trucks that do not and can not haul or tow even close to the Ford ratings.
And a final thought was over all price... the Ford was NOT the more expensive of the tested trucks...
So there you have why I stopped subscribing and reading that trash...they tested a truck that cost less, hauls and tow more, ran faster, stopped quicker, was no more or less fuel efficient and they all picked another as the TOP truck?... curious and interesting standards if you ask me.
Just for the record, that was also the last copy of truck mags I will ever buy also.
They ran the Powerwagon, a full load serious 4 wheeler against a Ford that did not have skid plates and then trash the Ford for having no protection .
Well duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Fords 4x4s can have the skid plates as a stand alone option or as part of the FX4 Pkg, your choice. The mag knew this but chose to trash Ford.
No, the winner of this article was chosen before the test trial commenced as all these wishy washy magazines are so afraid to upset a potencial advertising customer.
They are a lot like the Communist Newspapers, a tainted truth.
I've never subscribed to motor mags in my life... read a few at friend's houses, and besides the new products and tech articles (which are marginal at best) there's almost nothing in them. And, early on I got the same point of view: All the specs show one vehicle outshining the others in all aspects, yet they pick another truck as "best" ... huh?
art k.
Pushrods... sheesh, they engineer a new motor and keep pushrods?
If you get beat by a Hemi, just say "at least I don't have pushrods" and be happy
The printout on my timeslip is too light for the camera to pick up. My best time is 15.01@92.92 mph. You can see some of my speed mods in my gallery. If you want a complete list, send me your regular e-mail address and I will e-mail it to you.
as to the rotten wording of the truck mods i have to back every one up. they have always been pro gm and mopar from when i can remember maybe when i was 13. and have now become pro over seas and anti ford big time.
skip i also back you up we can make these babys run big time. my change to 56's was great in to my top end speed, but setting up the tuner on the rollers helped a major amount also. now i wish i could save the cash needed for the blower kit.
street running against a 1500 hemi it's allways been very close every time, but even by a half cab length or just a fender it's still a win
Im hoping for the blower too. Maybe next spring some time. Im kind of worried about losing my warranty now after having a problem but a few months running strong will make that fear go away
