97 Explorer high mount brake light

97 Explorer high mount brake light
Looks like my high mount brake light is dead. I have the sealed one that says "take to the dealer and bring some vaseline", and $300 is NOT an option. I am now looking into universal LED brake light kits. How easy are these to hook up? I am guessing that there is a plug somewhere under my rear bumper that I would use on a trailer. Any advice on what I should be looking for? Recommendations on which light I should buy? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The high mount stop light is neon that runs on high voltage AC current. Most time the power pack (inverter). I replaced my and that solved the problem. Costs around $90 for the part, it's located on the inside of hte back door under the inner trim at the top. Good luck.
