Excursion front axel ?

Excursion front axel ?
Thinking of buying a used excursion. Is there any difference from 1999 to 2004 in the front axel? Did it ever come with a true dana 60? Appreciate any input.

I have a Dana 50 in my 2005 Excursion. I know this for a fact. I thought it was a D60 by posts like wlihntr, but it was not. I changed to 4:56's and when they (Ring & Pinion shop) pulled the cover off, it was a D50. So, I had to reorder my parts. They look the same on the outside, but are different inside. (bearings, etc..)

THIS CAN BE FRUSTRATING BECAUSE THE DANA 50's ARE KNOWN FOR BEARING FAILURE UNDER THE STRESS OF LARGER THAN STOCK TIRES(VERY $$$$ FIX). DYNATRAC OFFERS A BEARING UP GRADE ALL THE WAY TO CROSSOVER STEERING. ALSO VERY EXPENCIVE. WWW.DYNATRAC.COM
