What's on the 706 are definately GP's. I could be wrong about the Perkins in it, but I'm 85% sure on that.

I wish I had a service manual for it.

We have an 806, no GP. If at all possible could you send me some pics. I cant EVEr remember seeing a 706 with a GP button, just the 460's and 560's

Ok so I went and whipped out my Nebraska Tractor Test book.

word for word. 706 (also 756) Diesel 76.09 HP @2300 RPM 3.875"x 4.375"
309.6 Cu. in. 6 cylinder International Harvestor engine. gassers used a 290 Cu. In. same HP

the 826, 1026 used some weird german engine but I know IH never used perkins like stated that was oliver and massey.

If its a perkins the block has Perkins casted on the right side 2 to3 in tall and by the pump there is a flat spot with numbers in it tells what size it is.

Thanks for clearing it up for me!

That settles it then. I sure love that tractor, but it really sucks having to hold that GP button in for a long time in the dead of winter especially if you forgot to plug it in at night. The 706 has dual side saddle 6v batts in series rather than dual 12v in parallel.

I might try to snap a picture of it this weekend. Kinda a cool tractor!

Sorry Kwik no CP #'s anywhere.

Rangerman. our 806 is the same, as is the '66 series. I think the '86 series they finaly got smart and used two 12v's in parrell, all the '88s and up same.

our 806 does have an either inject though, as does the 1066 and the 5088. does the 706??

I might have to go tractor hunting tonite and find a 706 diesel and look it over.

My deuce & a half has a White 7.8L inline six. No GP's, just a manifold flame heater using a spark plug as an ignition source. CR is 22:1. This engine starts great in the wintertime (down to 20 degrees anyway) & the flame heater isn't even necessary.

I think I only missed the V-10.
That New Model spec was off the VW website for the new Passat.
I sure would like to be able to afford a V-10 twin turbo Tourag. (spelling?)
I've seen videos of some commentator talking about the car standing on a felled tree that is being dragged down a dirt road by the car. I thought it was great.

Diesel engine compression ratios can be anywhere from 15:1 to 25:1 so anything above 20:1 should be high enough for you.

Yes Dan it is a military cargo truck, 1970. It has 17,000 miles on it & it's a lot of fun. It has a turbo & a straight pipe setup (original equip) & you can hear it screaming from half a mile away.
