diesel compression ratios
does anyone have a chart that has compression ritios for various brand diesel engines?
afterthought; a chart would be ideal but rare, it would be great if everyone could give the type and size of thier diesel engines as well as the compression ratios and i will make my own chart, thankyou |
6.0l (03-04) = 18.5:1
|
i seem to remember the 88 7.3 was around 22.5 to 1
|
The Powerstroke from 99-03 is 17.5:1
|
good start folks, any vehicle, any year, any diesel.
|
94-97 PSD is also 17.5:1
good start folks, any vehicle, any year, any diesel. Moved to proper forum |
thankyou, keep them comeing folks.

pre power stroke 6.9 = 22.5 7.3 = 21

thats great, the reason i need these is cause i am doing a diesel project and need to know the compression ratios to choose what engine to use, i need the highest ratio possible. thanks!

What kind of project I am sure we would all gladly build it for you and let you have the credit. :-X07
an old 5.7 chev or 6.9 diesel would proly be your best bet for highest compression. Diesel Rod |
well,,,aaa,,, i'll tell you guys more a little later, when i figure out if it is possible.
someone told me that some old dozers (humm, i hav'nt used that z botten in a while) oh sorry was i thinking out loud again, any way someone told me that some old dozers do not have glow plugs and their compression ratios were alot higher than normal, is that true? |
well most old tractors don't use GP's, as far I know the old 460 and 560 farmalls where the only ones that use them from IH, all the other I-6's didn't. Let me dig up an old book I have and see if it has CR for anything realy old.

None of the Perkins use GP,s are Cummins, the DT466 didn,t have them eather.

I dunno about that, I've got a Farmall 706 diesel that has GPs, and I'm pretty sure it's a Perkins I-6. I could be wrong though.
Dam good motor too! |
