I'm looking for info about my 56 f100 cab. I'm replacing the floorboard as well as the front/rear cab corners and front cab mounts. I KNOW I made a very big mistake after I cut the floorboard out...I forgot to take some of the critical measurements at various places all over the cab. I tried to stabilize the cab by welding braces at several places in the cab to keep it from flexing. But I just want to be sure that when I weld the new pieces in they will be very close to the original sheetmetal.
I've also heard about some books that come with the critical measurements for cars/trucks for frame straightening machines like in a body shop. Are there any like this for my truck ? Maybe too old?! Maybe Mitchell's...
Actually, I'd like those measurements too. I have a 56 cab that is stripped down but it's badly rusted and I don't think I'd trust any measurements I take off it. Any data would help me make sure I get it fixed so it is straight and true.
this info should be stickied up top with other body measurements so that everyone can check this without asking the same question all the time cuz i was fixin to ask the same thing hehe
OK I'm going to try to be as specific as possible to the most pertinate areas...
1. From the inside of the door pillars by the the top of each front cab mount.
Approx. 59 1/4"
2. From the back of the cab (on the styling ridge) to the front edge of the front cab mount. Approx. 45 1/2"
3. The inside measurement of the door opening by the floorboard. Approx. 33 7/8"
4. From rear door pillar to rear door pillar (opposing doors) inside edge. Approx. 62 1/4"
5. From front door pillar to front door pillar ( level with top door hinge ) inside. Approx. 57"
These are the only measurements I have which I believe to be INCORRECT but close.
