Well it's a rural American tradition, high school football. (I don't know if it's a big high school sport in Canada or not.)
Someone else asked how your favorite NFL team was faring and I thought, well, I really don't have a favorite NFL team so much, but I've followed my local high school football team pretty close and I bet there are other people on the site that do as well, and I would imagine that run-on sentences don't scare you too much either; that is if you are still reading this.
My local team the Rushville-Industry High School Rockets are 6-0. They face a real power house tonight (the Carthage Blue Boys). So how are your gridiron boys? (And I may have to vote for the "Fair-Tough Conference" choice if we get blown out tonight. Otherwise it'll b option one)

waht about the option for we totally suck. we won one game all last year..we have on game so far all year long..but we did beat bartlesville..one of the hardest teams 34-7
4-0 so far, Homecoming tonight. Two guesses what brand(s) of trucks will be towing the floats and carrying the court princesses? HS principal wanted to know what I had against Dodges....bwaahaahaa.
We are 4-1 the best we have done since 1999 lol we have homecoming tonight and we will win hopefully just cant wait to the the crowning of the homecoming queen.
our team lost 33 in a row before winning the first game of last season. they finished 5 and 6 last year which was great considering it had been 3 consecutive 0-fers. So far this year they are 4 and 2 with the tough part of the conference coming up. Hopefully we will finish 6 and 5 and make the playoffs.
Mustang High lost their first game tonight to Lawton. Mustang is 5-1 in 6a (the largest schools). Lawton is now 5-1 after beating us, so they were pretty good too.
Our kicker knocked out a 56 yard field goal tonight, along with a couple of shorter kicks. The game was on TV in OKC. I bet he's got some college recruiter's attention.
27-0 for our homecoming game- not a bad way to spend it.
Speaking of which, took a few Chebbies and a Ford along for the parade. I knew the senior court would be in front of me, riding in 2 Porsche Carrera Cabrios- so what Ford would you pick to make 'em....like...disappear? Here's what my call was:
I think I heard "I love your truck" at least 50 times going around the track. Just amazing the attention a full-bling King Ranch can attract- even in the center of yuppieville.
Kind of depends on which team, freshman's practice strategies suck so they suck on the field, JV and Varsity are doing well. Foot ball seems to be the only sport we're good at, tennis and soccer are getting their *** handed to them everytime they play.
I don't think the high school that I attended has won 5 games in the past 8 years since I first set foot there (graduated and came to Virginia Tech, home of the #3 Hokies )
Well I graduated in 05, and in my 4 years of attending Greenon, we won 4 games. This year the team is 5 wins and 2 losses.... and the rest of the games should be easy wins. Guess my class was bad luck. My best friend is the starting linebacker, and I told him I'd buy him a case of Budweiser for every win they had this season... Atleast we will split each case 50/50...
ATC, that will be us next year. After the seniors are gone, that team is gonna have...maybe 2 decent players and one is a running back whose dumber than a brick and thinks he's a power house, and isn't, and a line backer whose pretty decent. The rest of the team is a bunch of guys under 180 lbs who have no skill.
We could have been great, but all the great players who've played since pee-wee's, dont play in high school, or give up. Either grades, beer and partying, sit the bench in the varsity games, drugs, can't keep out of trouble, hate the coaches, or some other dumb reason makes them quit or unable to play. We have potentual, but over half the good athletes don't play.

My hometwom team is in the rebuilding process. Back when I played the townfolk would start up the "fire the coach committee" if he went 5-4 and didn't make the playoffs. He left after the 99 season and they haven't won 5 games since, and last year voted to renew the contract for the lame brain mental midget that was hired for the 01 season. The iterim coach for the 00 season faired well in the toughest conference in the state but they wouldn't hire him on. Hired a black guy that never had a record as a winning coach anywhere, but several total loss teams and they expected him to get our team up and running. He had a 26 game loosing streak before he finally won one. Did not believe in discipline or conditioning or much physical contact in practice. Guess why he sucked as a coach?
Somebody once said the coach didn't have much to work with, we have an awesoem baseball team, wrestling team and basketball team, most of the football team are multi-sport players in which they do have an athletic ability, talent, competetiveness and the drive and strive to work hard. Yeah each port has it's own unique requirements in terms of ability but there are many things that are universal that the coach never capitolized on. I am being nice in describing him per FTE rules.
The new coach is an graduate of this town, he has still not won a game yet (0-4) this year but the boys are disciplined, very physical and they are in shape. It takes at least a year to turn a program around, usually more like 2-3 years so post this again next year.
I finally voted. Friday night the team played against the Carthage Blue Boys. The BB have won more state championships than I can be sure of. We have had pretty good teams in the past, played Carthage and just fell apart after they scored (usually in the first couple of minutes). This year we coughed the ball up 4 times as of the end of the third quarter, and we only lost 30-6. Although that's not much to brag about, at least they didn't beat us 52-6 or 58-0 or something similar (as they have often done in the past). So I voted that we're good. (And it looks like we're better than I had expected.)
Church Turtle, I looked on the IHSA site and you guys are 7A, we're 4A in my hometown and the River to River Ohio and Mississippi Divisions have been two of the toughest conferences in ths state the past few years in terms of competition.
Is 7A really all that phsyical as I have heard it is. I know it is a larger school to choose from but I heard when I played that those big school teams were really tough.
My Sophomre and Junior years we played Belleville Althoff, I think they were either 5A or 6A then and they were good but we hung in with them and from what I heard we were one of their toughest opponents my junior year, which then we were 3A.
