Took me a while to re-visit this thread Birdhunter. Our HS is Rushville-Industry. Not sure where on the ihsa.org you are referring to, but we're 2A school and have been for years. I imagine our team wouldn't do very well against a large school powerhouse. Most years I would take Carthage against just about any size school. They have a very good program. (insert grumbling here_________)
Saturday our team lost a 2nd game. 17-13 to St. Joesph's Ogden (over by Decatur). They face Pleasant Plains (close to Springfield) this coming week, it's their first time facing PP.
Churchturtle, SJO is by Urbana not Decatur. But I won't hold that against you as I dislike them as much as you do. Ok, I don't dislike them but they do make for great rivals. Go Unity Rockets. Around here H/S football is big time.
We're still in the playoffs though. Our coach is retiring after a 32-year stint, so it'd be nice to send him off with a nice retirement present- like a State Championship or sumthin'
Rural American tradition? I guess we don't have football here in NJ.
Well my high school is finally in the Top 10 of our conference, and since we're a smallish school, I'd never thought I'd see the day (graduated 2001). The coach who took over my sophmore year has finally turned the program around from 3-7 and 5-5 years (my senior year we were 6-4) to now 7-1 and kicking ***, only loss was a game we played terrible in. Fun to watch on the guys who were our ball and water boys tearing it up on the field and fans crowd the stands...
Mustang (8-2) finished the regular season ranked at #8 in the State for 6A schools. We lost the last game by 1 point, giving up a TD with 45 seconds left in the game.
We're playing Norman High Friday night in the playoffs. Whatever way it goes, it was a good season.
3rd coach since i've been here. Only played one, got tired of switchin coaches. 5-5, 9-1, this year is either 9-1 or 8-2 but yeah not to good. But considering we would be a class B or C if we didnt have football, i guess thats ok, considering were playing 3A schools and such.
My Alma Mater is 9-1, Hays High in Texas. Home of the Rebels, and yes they still play Dixie. But they did finally lose the rebel flag. I guess they'll be going to the playoffs.
Tonight should be interesting- we're 4th ranked in the state, playing #1 tonight. But... #1 just squeaked past an unranked team last week, so the Oregonian lists this as the game of the week.
