I'm going to pull my engine out to have it rebuilt and need some advice on unhooking the a/c. I have r134 in the system and want to know how to disconnect the fittings safely. Any tips?
I'll have the system vacuum pumped and recharged when I put the engine back in.
Thanks
Pete
Find the service port on your a/c line and bleed the valve once you do that then disconnect the lines carefuly(there will still be a little pressure in them)once apart cap all the lines to ensure no debris gets in and you should be ok till reassembly.
Is it possible to remove the compressor from the motor and push it to the side while leaving the lines connected? That would be better if you could get by without disconnecting them. Just a thought...
All,
Marty is correct. Don't discharge if you don't have to. Just move it to the side and support it with a coat hanger or whatever you can find. It will save a lot of trouble.
Good Luck,
