i would suggest trying a hybrid turbo. small exhaust housing to build boost quicker and large compressor housing to supply enough air throughout the rpm. and fuel injected would also be my choice.
maybe some vw aircooled beetle sites might have some info on this subject. they've been doing blow through and draw through setups for years.

"the web page is in the works and we don't have any official flow charts yet, having said that we have never been accused of not delivering enough cfm or boost!
I make no predictions on horsepower, there are too many variable and I would be a liar sorry. blow off valve is the supercharger version of the waist gate which is commonly used on turbochargers, blow off valves or bov as their commonly referred to are cheap and plentiful, ive seen them on ebay from $50 on up and they all do the same job pretty well. sorry I have no knowledge of boost operated fuel pressure regulators. "
I'll keep my eye on this company and see if i can get some feedback from buyers. Might be a good new manufacturer to get some boost from, but it also might be a Made in China plastic injection molded heap! Guess we'll find out later.
I would be willing to pay you for your time and expenses to get the exhaust measurements to route the exaust and possibly sell me a copy of the adapters/parts you used for the turbo install. Thank you for your help.
I finally remembered to take the digital camera home from work, and took pics of the 300 turbo setup. What would be the best way to post these, I posted a few pics of this setup earlier, and I believe they got deleted.
I know that people know that the 4.9 is a low rpm engine and not some racy high rpm type right? Anyways the internals would all have to go and be reground in forged aluminum. A custom head would be in the works too. I'd say buy the 5.0 engine from an Explorer or Cobra and get the PCM from the GT. More parts for that than ever. 500 would be nothing if you had the money
I'd reccommend it my opinion on it it I don't really like mixed metals in contact with others. Plus forged aluminum is stronger. The reasoning by mixed metals it that they expand and contract at different rates. Look at aluminum heads with iron blocks for instance. You'll notice that they crack easily.
