I am having one heck of a time finding the correct transmission mount for my truck.
Specs:
1986 F150, 5.0L, 4x4, AOD Trans.
The "Anchor" brand part # that everyone tries to sell me is 2448, but it is about 3/4 " too narrow from the hole to hole center measurement. I have spent several hours going from store to store in search of this mount but most of their catalogs have an "except AOD-trans." printed after the part description. I even went to a transmission shop and they ordered me the same "smaller" mount that all the other guys tried to sell me.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated...thanks!
Have you tried having them look it up for a older model, I know when looking up brake calipers for an 86 they almost always list the wrong ones, and it's best to just tell them it's for an 80-85 truck.
I have bounced them from early 80's to 90's, F150-F350. Tomorrow I'm heading out to the wrecking yard later today (Ford has the part...$75.00, a bit steep for my budget). In this technological time in which we live, it just baffels me when I need a part and the counter person always ends up pulling out several books from under the counter because the software they use is so lacking. It would be really cool if they could bring up a 3d rotating picture with dimensions and OEM part #'s to cross reference.
I know what you mean, I worked a parts counter for a while and found out the biggest problem with the software is careless/inconsistent data entry. Especially when it comes to illustrations and descriptions. I suppose it would just cost to much to have someone that actually knows what the parts are do that job.
I ran into the same problem when I rebuilt my tranny on my 86. I finally gave up but luckily my old mount was in OK shape and I was just changing it "because" I was in there anyway. I tried 3 mounts from 3 vendors and all of them were wrong.
