I have a 2000 F 150 4x4 ex cab, and every now and again after starting the pick up the odometer won't come on. Sometimes it will even take a few mins to come on. Anybody have any suggestions?

yep. there is a cold solder joint on the back of the dash board circuit board. i had it 6 weeks ago and followed the directions and photos on this board and fixed it. took about an hour and half to get apart, solder, and reinstall. i dont remember the exact post. i will look. had it ear marked for a month, just deleted it yesterday.
Hey all,
I will likely tear into this project around the Christmas timeframe. This post makes it look pretty easy. One question though, my shop manual has the following note "NOTE: Following installation of the instrument cluster, reset the PCM ID and carry out the PATS parameter reset procedure. Refer to Instrument Cluster Parameter and PCM ID Reset Procedure in this section." I didn't see any mention of this in anyone's posting. Can someone enlighten me on what is involved. My manual is pretty weak on this detail. Thanks for your help (as usual).
i think the computer checks to see if someone has switched the dash panel with a lower miles readout?? ect. as long as you fix the board and put it baack in the same truck, there is no PATS problem.
