I found an 83 F-1(not sure if its 100 or 150 just yet, i didn't exactly focus on the badges) With a 300 under the hood and a 4spd with granny-low. A/C PB, etc. The truck is real clean save a dent in one of the front fenders. Truck runs real smooth, you could lay a dime on the engine and it wouldn't budge. Doesn't seem to smoke or knock at all Drives like a dream too.
I took Addo's and the others advice and didn't pick up the bronco, and found something a bit cheaper, with not as much wrong. About the only thing here i'm looking at is changing a valvecover gasket.
Anybody think its worth the $1,850?
I'll post pics later, i didn't get a good look at the engine because it was approaching dark, but i think i saw an Offy intake and some kind of 4bbl under there.
Here in Texas, if it drives, is legal (passes inspection), and the AC blows cold, it is usually worth around $2K for an old 2WD truck. After that, you have to look at whether it has been painted before(maybe wrecked), and if not, what is the paint condition like (rust?). Good luck.
The body is fine, paint is ok, and it has no rust that i can see, but i haven't crawled under her to see how the bottom side looks. I don't think its been wrecked, i had a buddy of mine observe when i drove it, and he noticed no dog tracking. But i'll examine the normal "whoopsie" spots for a quick cover paint job tomorrow if i get a chance to make sure i'm not buying a wrecked truck.
And thankfully there is no Emissions here, just a state safety inspection..slap a sticker on her and go.
I've got the 83 F100 too. I wouldn't sell mine for $1850. I do have cancer on the lower tailgate also. I think if no hidden rust then you might have a deal there.
I found out more today, and the guy is seriously cutting me a steal...er...deal here.
He's letting it go for pretty much a loss, lots of new parts under the hood, which can be a good or bad thing. Whats important tho is that he's letting it go with about $500 worth of rims/tires, a $400 cd player in the dash, toolbox, diamond-plate bedrail guards. Ain't a spot of neglect on the truck, inside or out.
alright maybe one of you can tall me. why would someone put a $400 cd player in 83 f150? I mean 1. its nearly 1/3 what I paid for my 84 2. it is just asking to get broken into cuz i mean its an 83 they arn't hard to break into. and 3 its a truck how much sound do you really need I mean cabs are usualy prety small. I'm 19 and don't understand it. anyways if it really runs like you say pick it up. its not a steller deal (well maybe with the cd player) but it is a good one. and you've got tons of people here to help you if run into problems with it.
Granted, it may not have been a stellar deal, but it was definately worth the money. I got the guy to come down to $1,500 for the price because of a dent in the passenger fender. Its the only flaw i can really find with the truck.
And trust me that $400 cd player is nice, ive got the amp left in it hooked into my 10" sub behind the seat. It ain't much...but it sure sounds nice.
nice, it looks alot like mine. for $1500 that was money well spent. if you are looking at getting a new back bumper for it Lmc truck has some sweet ones.
if you have a problem condoning spending money on her just do what I do and figure that you were almost willing to spend $1,850 giving you a good $350 to still spend!
