Question Replaced My Fuel Filter?

I replaced my first fuel filter at 15,000 miles and it didnt have any **** in it. It was black but "clean". Just replaced my second one at 51,000 black but no **** again. I have read by many here they should be replaced from every oil change to........ I dont mind changing it every oil change if it really needs to be done but is it really necessary to change every 5,000 miles? I also need to find a new source for fuel filters O'Rileys carged $36.00 for one yes one stinkin wix filter!!! ouch! no grease on that one. And one last item the fuel in the bowl was warm after letting the truck sit for several hours (6hrs) I know there is a heater in there but does it keep the fuel warm when the truck is turned off or did I just not let the truck cool long enough?

Check with Fleet Filters/ about half the price (one of our sponsor sites). Heat soak of the fuel system is considered normal and is not related to the fuel heater. I change my fuel filter every 12-15k miles and find it in very good shape with almost no water in the fuel bowl. Changing it every oil change is almost overkill, unless you have problems with contaminated fuel.

Wow 16.00 and change at fleetfilters for the filter, I could have had 2 for 1. Looks like I can afford to change mine every 12k too .

Buickturbo that was "no ****", oitherwise I would have held on to it a little longer.ha-ha

I paid about $38 also and later found it on an internet site for about $16 too. What ever, at least I got it in two seconds and had it on the truck in five! I may buy some now for the next time!!!

15K miles is the recommended interval unless you're driving off road often. No reason to run through them any faster unless you start finding chunks of stuff in there. I get mine from Fleetfilter.com and I'm very happy with them, same as Napa Gold and way cheaper.

The filter I replace had just about 20K on it. I was starting to loose power and the (yellow) "check engine soon" light was going on and off. After I put a new filter on it was like magic, back to normal!
