I have a 74 F250 4x4 w/ a 6.4L 390 V8. We recently swapped out my old 390 with burnt valves for a newer one with lower miles.. We got it all put in and were starting to button it up when we tested the clutch. It went straight to the floor, no pressure.
So we pulled it out, took off the bellhousing to find that the L shaped lever attached to the backwall was broken and loose from the bellhousing wall. It was factory riveted and I need to know how I can replace it.
First things first- what is the name of the piece? So far I've heard: Cluth bellcrank pivot, clutch release lever pivot, and clutch fork. Which is it??
Second- does this sound like a part that I can get from Ford or a wrecking yard?
Third- should I just get a new bellhousing with the part already attached?
Oh also- does anyone know where I can find an exploded view of the bellhousing?
Sounds like you need to get a Chiltons or Haynes shop manual for your truck. They have the diagrams of alost everything, and they sell them here at the online store(shameless plug!). Without seeing it myself, I am not sure what part name either. I would try to get a complete bellhousing from a junkyard, then there would be no question when you put it all back together. Just remember, the FE (390) engine family has a unique bell housing bolt pattern, and they stopped putting them in cars in 1976. So your best bet would be to look in trucks from 1973-1976, as the body changed very little in that time, older trucks will also work, but I'd start in that year range. Hope this helps.
Your looking for the clutch fork pivot. You can call John's F-Fun Hundreds in Anaheim CA. Their #is (714)563-3100 they list them in their catalog and I think Mac's also has them:P
The rivits snaped off on mine a few years ago. I replaced the rivits with bolts that were the same shape and diameter and tac welded the nuts just in case.

I have a Chiltons and a Haynes for this truck. I couldn't find a reference to the part anywhere in there. Thanks for your help on this. I looks like we are going to go with a new BH. It's simple and fairly cheap.
How cheap is the bellhousing? I've had three of the pivots come loose. 5/16 allen screws will fit and last a long time before breaking. 3/8 allen screws will last forever. The 3/8 requires you to open up the holes. The pivot is hardned and needs a Dremill tool to enlarge.
