Did I make a mistake?

I ordered a 06 F350 CC 4x4 PSD lariat about 3 weeks ago, my dealer said it would take 6 to 8 weeks to be delivered. The other day I was screwing around and did a google search to see what I could find on F350's, that is how I found the FTE site. I have spent the last few days reading threads here, and after reading about all of the problems and mileage issues that other Superduty owners are having I'm really thinking I made a mistake in buying this truck. I'm trading in a 04 EB Expy because of a couple of uncomfortable experiences while towing our 28' travel trailer with it. Although we really like the Expy, I thought that the F350 with PSD would provide a more stable towing platform as well as better fuel economy, now I'm not sure of the reliability and the mileage doesn't sound all that good considering that gas is about 2.85 and Diesel is about 3.15 in my area.
Does anyone have any comments that would make me feel good about all the money I just spent?
thanks
paul

Yes big mistake, you should take my 05 that is well broke in and trustworthy and I'll take that new untried one off your hands for you . Obviously I'm just kidding the increased safety factor for towing is the best reason for any one to change to a larger tow vehicle. Also what mileage are you getting while towing with the expedition? chances are you will probably get better with the PSD and my guess is that you will be greatly impressed with the ease the new truck will handle the trailer and you will feel the increased safety right away.

Pretty much if you bought a truck from the big three, you made a mistake. :P

I havent had mine long enough to decide that yet. I do know that if you spend your time reading on this board, you will likely 'have problems' with your truck. I say steer clear of the board until you have a problem with the truck that YOU recognize.

Most likely - no mistake

I have been reading this board for over a year. I rarely post to it and I'm sure that there are many others that just read. If I have a problem, I will post a question about it because many people on here know way more then I do about PSD. The fact is that most people only post problems here. I can only rant and rave so long on how much I enjoy my truck. You going to almost always read about problems over great news.
How many times have we called a company up to express a compliment of a product or service? Do it and you will shock the person/company that you call.

No you made a good choice. You'll be happy with the way it pulls. Bad words always travels faster than the good words. If you go onto any other truck forums you'll find people complaining about chevy and dodge too. But if you have a problem, then at least you'll get some good answers here.

no mistake

I now have 20k on my 04 PSD, more than half of that towing my 6k trailer cross country. Not ONE problem. I've had a few trucks in my day and this is one smooth powerful pickup. Familiarize yourself with some of the "common" issues of this truck so you'll be able to tell the self fixes from the "take it in" problems.
My EGR has been unplugged from day 2. I use fuel treatment with every fillup.
I have no engine mods. I service the filters and oil regularly and drain the HFCM
monthly. Hope you enjoy your truck as much as I do mine.

From: Fort. Lauderdale FL,
Its was said once but i will say it again because so many people come here and say look at all of these people with problems. Remember the majority of people posting are people that HAVE a problem or people that can help fix one. Of course you are going to hear how many people have problems here cause this is where they come to talk. Thats like going to a Ford serive department and going man there are alot of broken trucks here. Well OF COURSE THERE IS THATS WHERE BROKEN TRUCKS GO. When was the last time anyone here took their truck in for service just to say hi and or rant about how good their truck is. Doesnt really happen.. I can tell you i have an 04 King Ranch PSD 4x4 CC and i am nothing but pleased. I passed 44,000 miles yesturday in less then 2 years and have yet to have a problem besides little quirks that were either fixed by me or the dealer did easily. No major repair for me. Good Luck with the new truck..

This past weekend I ran into a motorcycle buddy in NoCal who was driving his truck...a late '03 6.0 F250. Cool...I didn't know he had that truck cuz he is always on his bike. Now I have my '05. So over breakfast I asked him, what problems have you had? He has not had one single problem. He hasn't even had the recalls done. He just loves and loves his truck.

So, on my 1,000 motorcycle trip last weekend, I looked at every F250 and higher as they passed by. There are tons of truck out there doing duty with 6.0's (I have learned where the PSD door trim pieces changed to know when one has a 7.3 or the 6.0). I was up in the mountains, seeing them towing huge horse trailers and 5th wheels, all on unbelievable grades.

So, I would say these folks are right. There are a few with problems, mostly early trucks, many which have been modified. The '06 will be fine. I don't drive mine to work, but I had today, and did so with a I love my truck more than any other previous.

Think of this board as an Oaisis for Owners. It is definitely NOT a Ford marketing site, rather it is a way of compairing notes on any problems we encounter.

Took delivery on an '06 F-250 PSD, Lariat, CC SB Auto just three months ago, already 5600 miles on her and not one problem AFTER they replaced the tires. The P radials just didn't make it, squirley, they replaced them with BFG's.

I have been using Diesel Kleen since she turned 1K. Getting 19-20 MPG at 65-70, drops off after that.

Have a Jack Rabbit roll up toneau, going to be getting 5th wheel trailer later.
Love that truck, but remember, this site is not really designed to give you the warm fuzzy feeling, that is what the sales person is there to do. That and talk you into the extended warrenty, clear coat, under coat, and disability insurance so their bottom line is really improved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

always just blows me away when I see an inquiry like Paul100...obviously this dude has some smarts since he can afford a 06 f-350 in the first place....but to be that insecure that he made a MISTAKE////// PLEASE!!!!!...............all these trucks are JUNK in one form or other...we all know it...we all deny it...ours is exempt from the junk factor....we have to install aftermarket this ...or adjust that..before we feel like we werent burned............what we really need in this country is a REBELLION ........the colonists started a revolution over a TEA tax...can any of you IMAGINE how PISSED they would be if they had to pay what we pay today to UNCLE SAM???...and his designated recipients of out hard earned cash????...this is just crazy!!!!....gas and diesel took 100 years to get to $1.50 a gallon and its DOUBLED in 3 years.........stop buying anything that you absolutely dont NEED.....then Clay Ford and Geo W might..at least... HEAR our pain...cause they'll never feel it at their level
