I am trying to rip a audio book (cd), problem is the tracks are not in the right order. Is this some form of copy protection? How can I get around this?
I am using I tunes and nero running xp pro.
No I am not stealing cd's either. I am in a audio book club(like netflix). The problem is if I listen to a cd then send it back I have to wait 4 days at least before i get the next one(plus I just like mp3 format) by putting them on mp3 I can send the original back and have a new book waiting for me when I'm ready.
Well usually what I do to put them in the order I want is to rename the file/songs and put numbers in front of the names. If the files you're writing to a CD aren't numbered they'll typically be arranged in alphabetical order according to the name. So if you add a "01' to the first track, "02" to the second and so on it will put then on in that order.
They are named and numbered. When they pop up on the I tunes they are not in order. When they are installed onto my harddrive they are not in order. When I put them in order to burn them and it comes out wrong.
Later tonight I will install them again and listen to a couple of tracks to see if they are in the right order but number wrong. Is it possible to import them to my I tunes to fast and it is getting confused? However this does not happen all the time so I don't really think it is something with I tunes.
It gets pretty confusing when you are listing to a book and are on chapter 10 and the next chapter is 6.
Tried again tonight and all seems ok so far. I will listen at work tomorrow and see. I think maybe my computer had to much going on at once and got confused.
I asked a guy at work today and he told me to number things starting at 100 to keep the puter from listing the wrong numbers like it will in the teens.

That's why I start at 01 and onward which is good up to 99 items. If you have more than 100 items you should start at 001 or 100 and on.
if all else fails do an analog cap, get a patch cord with two 1/8" ends and record to WAV and compress to mp3. YOu won't have tracks unless you stop the recording manually. Probably easiest just to figure out why it's not doing it right though.
Speaking of which, what's the easiest way to convert a WAV to MP3? Is there some special software needed? My CD player in the car plays MP3's and it's nice to have 150 songs on one disc. I'd like to be able to take some of my regular CD's and make MP3's out of them but I'm not sure how.
