MP3/CD Burner

Does anyone know of a good program for burning MP3 cds? Everytime I try to make an mp3 cd whatever program I use alphabetizes the songs and folders.

The only way that I have been able to get around this was to edit each of the files in the folders and put 01,02,03... before the name. This is fine for an audio cd that only has 15 or so songs, but for an mp3 cd with 150 plus it is to time consuming.

Does anyone know of a program that does not alphabetize the files and folders?

I at one time had Nero and that was a great program to use. I can't seem to find the cd now, and I have already used their free trial period. Plus I can't justify spending $70 for something that's bound to be out there for free.

I really don't think it's possible to order files and folders any other way than to use the ASCII hierarchy.

Something you could try though is to use playlists and try playing that if the player supports playlists.

There is a website which I found for mp3 encoders, decoders and CD rippers and burners. The site is:

http://www.mp3-converter.com

I downloaded an encoder (Cdex) and a burner which is the Acoustica CD burner. I downloaded these over the weekend. The Cdex encoder is freeware and the Acoustica burner is a trial version (one week trial, I believe.) I have burned 4 CDs thus far and all seem to play correctly, whether in the Sony CD/mp3 players in my 77 and the wife's car, or in the factory unit in my 2005. You might check out that site to see if those or perhaps some other program works for you.

cd s have a file system that goes alphabetically if cd burner programs did not follow this spec chance are the cd rom ,mp3 player probably couldn't play it

a trick i used when i was driving my car witch had a mp3 player was to put the songs into folders and select the folder you want

i love nero to but the copy that came with my machine no longer works even though i reinstalled it a few times (makes no since i know)

there is a free solution i found called cd burner xp pro
just do a search for cdburnerxp on google its not quite nero but it beats adaptec and all thoose other ones that cost money

I downloaded this program and it is still alphabetizing the files in the folders. Is there something that I need to do, or did I misread your response?

Why not just download a file renaming proggie.

You can do all sorts of things with them; replace, add, sequence etc..

I used one or two many years ago but can't remember the name of it, but you should be able to find something in that google search.

Hey Furball, thanks for giving me that idea. Although it did not solve the problem completely, it helped out a lot.

Godspeed thanks for your advice too. I was able to burn the cds correctly using Furballs adivce and one other adjustment.

Thanks again

Use iTunes. Create your playlist using MP3 files and burn the playlist to a CD. To do this, you must make sure iTunes is setup to burn "MP3 CDs". You can check this under Edit, Preferences, Advanced, Burning, Disc Format, MP3 CD. The thing with MP3 CDs, they have track numbers. With applications like iTunes, they hard code the track numbers on the CD. BTW, iTunes is also FREE!!!
Hope this helps,
André

There's a program called "Record Now". I could be wrong, but I think it's somehow part of Windows XP and higher. There's a "Choose and arrange files" option...works like a champ for me.
