The tailgate came with the truck. It was taken off years ago and put in the garage. I happen to see it while I looking at some other stuff they had for sale. If I hadn't looked up I might not have ended up with it. The gentleman I bought the truck from is starting to suffer from Alzheimer and can't remember a lot. I don't think he knew the tailgate was even up in the attic.
When I made the family an offer on the truck they grinned and chuckled. I thought I had insulted them. They told me there was no way was the truck worth as much as I offered. We went back and forth until they settled on a price. I really can't say what I paid (guilt) but the truck is worth a lot more.
I called them back yesterday and told them I felt I still owed them more money because the truck is in such excellent condition, but they refused.
thanks limegoldf100 for the info. Now I can start looking to find out what its worth.
Hey Russ, I wanted a flat panel on mine as well so I went to a sheet metal shop I do business with and they cut me a piece of cold roll to fit it and then I welded it on and went to paint
Thanks Russ, That 3rd pic shows the tail gate pretty good but it just shows how smooth it looks with the cold row on it covering the ford letters stamped in the tail gate. The sheet metal shop guy wouldnt take any money from me for it but he said it was only about 20 bucks so forget it. Hope this helps
