i was wondering if any of yall know where the power and ground for the cigarette lighter plug in under the dash? i have one green wire coming out of the dash, but nothing else. all the other dash lights work, and the PO had some clearance lights added, do you think that has anything to do with it, i was wanting to be able to run some accesories in cab, but it looks like i wont be able to.
If the wires are gone or reused on the lighter all you need is to run a hot wire to the center pin and a ground to the tab on the outside skin of lighter socket. That way you could also decide if you want to run a hot all the time or a hot switched wire.
oh, ok. while were on the subject of wiring, has anybody used one of those painless wiring harnesses, or soemthing similar? do this kits replace ALL of the wiring, including the wiring to the alternator, regulator and cluster lights?
Some of the ones I have see pretty much cover it all. They even have wiring for the options your vehicle may not have. Don't know why they call them painless except they are easier then doing it one at a time. Still you had better be prepared to spend some time and say a few choice words. Remember most of these are made like factory harness, but you have to try and route them and all with the truck put together. Not as easy as when the thing was being built and everything was not in place yet. LOL
