I have a 1985 F-150 4.9L inline six 4spd man. The thing died on me the other week while driving on the turnpike. Popped the hood and noticed that the exhaust manifold was glowing red. It wouldn't start up again so I had it towed home. I did a compression test and got a reading of about 128psi even on all cyl. I replaced the fuel pump because at the time it died I noticed that the fuel pump was leaking. The truck now starts but it has a very low idle (150-250rpm)and absoulutly no power to get out of it's own way. Thought it may have been a clogged catalytic converter so I unbolted the exhaust pipe where it meets the exhaust manifold. Still no power! Is it possible that the crank and cam timing might have skipped a tooth? Has anyone ever experienced a condition like this?
Thanks for any leads!

Being that it is 2 gears, I doubt that the crank/cam gears are the problem. Red hot exhaust? Possible that the truck just leaned out? Is yours fuel injected?
