when i placed my order, or so i thought (i now found out that it didnt go through) at black cloud diesel, i had an AIH delete plug on it. the Air Inatke Heater supposedly blocks 20% of the airflow. well i just ran out to see if it had anything there- and there was wires coming off of the plug, and it was "Y-ed" into my edge system. if i delete this and just unplug it, will it have any adverse affects? how hard is it to remove the intake heater inside the 5-way horn? thanks!
i used the plug that had the fitting in it for the boost gauge hook-up... it went in easy, and the boost gauge hooked up easy.... i have gotten some codes that say the aih circit has low voltage, but that code doesn't effect the performance of the engine... i can see how that heater would block some airflow... it's a pretty big heater coil in there... i haven't run in cold weather since i took this out, but all it is supposed to do is cut down on the smoke you get in the winter when you idle a cold engine for awhile... no big deal...
I'd go with the AIH plug w/ the boost fitting also. It's more accurate and how can you use the Dual-Relief valve if you're using a T in the MAP Line???

that's exactly why i went with the AIH plug with the boost fitting...! and my gauge works very well..!
there's instruction on here somewhere for how you hook those back together so you don't have any problems... i don't remember how i did it, but my error codes tell me i may have done it incorrectly, it just hasn't been a real problem so i haven't taken the time to look back into it.. maybe i will when i put my new wicked wheel on..!

The relief valve goes after the T for the boost line.
this isnt a T in the map pressure line. it is a a "T" in the electricals coming from the AIH plug- there is two wires coming off of that, with a plug at the end. my edge system plugs inbetween the two factory connections, and then the other factory connector goes somewhere else on the truck.
Or you can make your own:
Use a 470ohm 1/2 w reisitor and put it inline with the Red wire you take off the AIH and ground it to a good ground on the block. It provides enough resistance to make the computer think the AIH is still there.

i dont know for sure but here is my guess. the wires going to the AIH are just a pos. and a ground, the pos. is controlled buy a relay that is energized only in certain conditions when the PCM tells it to come on (when it feels the incomming air needs to be warmed up). if i remember correctly the edge system has a cold engine protection circuit (it will not give full power until the engine is up to operating temp). the edge system may be using the AIH signal to activate/deactivate that function
on edit: now that i think about it a little more, i may be wrong. the AIH is only activated when the truck is in park (auto trans) or the parking brake is applied (manual trans) so if they are using that signal for that purpose it would not do any good since the AIH will be turned off as soon as the truck is put into gear.
on edit again: ok after reading through the install instructions i have the answer, the Edge Juice system does have a conection that goes to the MAT (manifold air temp.) sensor it is located on the bottom of the the five way horn (right before it goes into the intake manifold tubes). the AIH is located on the cold side intake port (right next to where the cold side intercooler tube attaches). so if your system is taped into the AIH circuit it has been installed incorrectly
