hey guy's the f-150 had a squeek @ start up and when the ac was engaged, so i replaced the belt tensioner and belt only to find the squeek still there, eventualy with the help of a friend who could listen while i fooled with the throtle and ac and then shuting the truck off we found the squeek coming from the fan clutch it has about 3/8 " of slop front to rear,(with the motor off of course)NOT GOOD ! but when its running it posed as a squeek at start up and take off, so i thought i would share this so it might save someone some time and $$$$ anyways does anyone have any tips or tricks for changing the fan clutch? on a 97 f-150 xlt 4x4 5.4 w/ac, THANX

First make sure to disconnect the battery. The fan connects to the water pump pully by threads. You can take the fan off w/out removeing the pullie .
The threading is reversed , standing in front of the truck to loosen you would
turn your wrench CCW . I used a Pipe wrench to loosen the fan and a large screw driver to bind up the water pump pullie,Then hit the end of the pipe wrench w/a hammer to break it loose . Once loose do not unscrew the fan off
until you remove the 2 bolts to the fan shroud . Then proceed to remove the fan. Keep a good grip on the fan so it does not fall right into the radiator and
damage it .Then pull the fan and the shroud straight up together. That's the easiest way I found to remove it .Then of coarse remove the nuts that connect the clutch to the fan . Reverse the steps to reasemble
