Clearing 35's?

On a 96 F-150 with a 79 front end, how much lift would i need to fit 35's with room for articulation? I already have a 3 inch body lift and i dont really wanna trim the fenders, but i will if i have to.

Thanks,
Will

i would need to see pics, because i dont know what you did to put the 79 front end under it... if the truck sits level, with the stock rear end, i would say 6" springs front and rear.

4" total lift and you can clear 35's, but the front bumper needs to be shimmed out out as you will rub on the bottom corners when turning lock to lock, but that will give you room to spare as well.

33's can clear just fine on a 1/2 with leveling coils up front (we have a 92 and a 84 both with leveling coils up front although only 31's, there is lots of room to spare to clear 33's no question), and i was running 35's on my 80 without any problems (the old hummer tires, not the boggers), but this is assuming he hasn't bought aftermarket rims with less backspacing than stock (a 12.5 wide tire would be the max though).

Well, you forget that your 92 is a completely different animal than a 96....the fenderwells are different, and i have seen plenty of 96's on 35's with 6" and they fit alright, but if you can get any flex, they will rub.

the 92 has teh exact same fenderwells as a 96. i had 33x12.50's on my stock 93 with some rubbing on the radius arms at full lock. you shoulb be able to fit those 35s with no problem with the body lift...just shim your bumper a bit, or trim the botton

i am going to apologize, i was thinking 97.... i would still recommend 6" so that he doesnt have to trim any fenders.

he still wouldn't have to unless he wants to score a 1000 on RTI. i had a 6" skyjacker on my 93 F150 running 33's and i had WAY more room than I needed but i bought the lift from a friend and couldn't resist the price. 35's would have fit EASILY with 6" and will still fit with 4" but the bumper may need to be trimmed/shimmed

Had to trim the bumper on my 96. Still rubs a little somewhere haven't really been worried about it, hasn't rubbed off road since I trimmed the bumper. However I think I need to replace my axle pivot bushings.

One thing i fogot to mention, is that if you have not enough/to much backspacing you will rub in different areas, to little and you'll mash the fenders up, to much and you'll rub the radius arms, really you just need to spend a bit of thime messi around to find that perfect medium.
