Well, I've read alot of good and bad, but I had to do it - I've now been running 1 month with my Predator on a otherwise stock 6.0 (have added a Pryo gauge)... I towed once in the 45 HP mode, and have since had it in the 65 HP mode and towed my 24ft travel trailer... all I can say is wow...My truck runs like I expected it too from Ford - not a single problem, super power, excellent mileage (now)...just all around perfect...
An example:
before Predator - city mileage around 12-13 and HORRIBLE power response.
highway mileage around 14-16 and could only tow my 24ft trailer at 60mph up a 6% grade.. (got passed by a Dodge!)
after Predator:
city mileage around 13-14 and POWER galore!!! beware Vets and Vipers!!
highway mileage, last trip - 19.1 oneway and 22 back!!! (running empty) and now have no speed limit with the 24ft trailer!!
Thank you to the folks at Predator and Motorhaven for such a great deal on it!!!!
Have you tried the 100hp mode? For me running empty on the interstate with the hills and mountans between my home and work I got even better mileage in that mode. And talk about a tire danger! Get just a slight dampness and hit the peddle to hard and all 4 start spinning!
I haven't tried the 100HP mode yet - Too scared!!!! the 65HP mode is crazy enough!
And for those who have had the "puking" problem - I have not had a single drop of coolant go anywhere yet, so my guess is that's NOT a problem associated with tuners....
SuperV10...is your factory warrenty up yet? I just got my 06 F-350 with the 6.0 and I'd LOVE to put a tuner on it. But I'm nervous. $48,000 truck, with 1,000 miles on it. Not sure I want to take that chance.
I would say somewhere between .5 and 1.5 depending on where you let it shift at. Interstate driving closer to 1.5, in town closer to .5 I try to let it shift at 2200 rpm (keeping my foot out of it til it gets in high gear) If you keep your foot on the floorboard you will definatly not see any increase. I am bone stock, no mods other than the tuner. This is what the SCMT really brings to the table in my book. It requires no other mods to function as advertised. The only other performance mod I will do to this truck is a muffler delete. I did it on my 03 and liked the way it sounded. Tuner, muffler delete, and rotella t syn oil all at the same time, on my 03' before a trip from FLA to WIS and my mileage was 19.5 up from about 16. This was with one of the crappy flashes. When I moved up here to Bossier, I got reflashed with a new EGR sensor, and my mileage stayed the same with the tuner off. Never did send it in to get it updated, then I ended up with my 05 and sent it off to get it upgraded for it. I do think that I had a bad turbo on my 03, and the tuner made up for it. Never could get ford to seriously look at it. It was night and day difference towing my 30Ft TT with the tuner on versus off. When I got my 05, it pulled stock like my 03 with the tuner on. Go figure.
