Many old Ford pickup trucks have been “clipped”. That is the front suspension and or the front frame has been removed (usually just forward of the front cab mounts) and replaced with a late model GM or Mopar sub-frame. This process gets 35 years worth of modern brake, suspension and steering technology in one shot and provides a nice place to mount a modern engine and transmission. Using a GM clip gets those huge 13” rotors and the GM sub frames seem to be the easiest to install. GM clip/sub-frame is compatible to ford engines with modifications for those that like to keep there Ford mostly Ford. I strongly advocate this process on pre 65 F100’s that are driven daily. I believe clipping to be more economical than modernizing the original 35 – 40 year old brakes, steering and suspension systems. What are your opinions or experiences with this process?

I had a 63 ****** overland pickup in high school that had a camaro front clip under it and a 327 under the hood. I never got it on the road but the first thing to go would have been that SBC grenade. lol. I personnally think it is a great idea but I am a strong believer in Fords using Ford parts and Bowties using Bowtie parts. Has anyone ever thought of using a Granada or late 70's T-bird front clip? I wonder how that would work out.
Another popular swap as of late is the F-body Dodge/Plymouth Volare/Aspen.THose cars are a dime a dozen in the junk yards.
They cant give them away.My uncle had the plans and was gonna do it to his F-1 but is selling the truck as of this year.

there are some excellent kits available out there ffor putting power boxes and rack and pinions along with fully independent suspensions on these trucks. try fatman fabrications, heidt's, chubby chassis and others to get a look at these.
cutting and scarfing frames together is a lot of work, and you can wind up with some engineering issues with steering and brakes.
most of these kits are mustang II based, so it can be all ford
to boot. they are well engineered.
Little boys use clips :P my truck is sitting on a 74 e-100 frame ps pb 9" it holds a 429 and a t9 or t18 i'm puzzled as to which but if your gonna clip it why not go all the way
