please help

96 aerostar rear hatch will not open think it is jamed can not open how can i get the hatch open thanks removed rear panel and checked inside can not see much leaver seem to work latch moves when hit by striker rod

Welcome!

You are half way there. You will need to spray the latch with some lithium lube and let it sit for a while. Then use a pair of pliers to gently pull on the release rod to open. Once open, finish lubing the latch.

But before anything, is it locked? If so, Try to unlock it from the inside.
