I have a water pump question running here allready but I need some help from anyone who drives a 97 psd and has a aux gauge that shows acual temps, not a range of temperature like the stock gauges show. If any one can take a reading of what your truck runs for temp at highway speeds with no load or trailers and at idle, just post those temps here. I can then have my truck checked at the same intervals with a aux gauge or at the mechanics shop. Ever since I had a water pump changed, my truck runs a lot hotter. I am trying to trouble shoot away possible problems with the sending unit, factory gauge or if the re-man pump is no good. I figure there are enough guys on this site still with 97 psd's and I just may be able to get a coolant temp reading from a simular truck to compare to what my truck is doing. If my temps are close then I will belive the sending unit or gauge went on the fritz. I just dont want to belive the parts store guy when he says its the gauge, drive your truck. I dont think they will pay for a engine if it turns out to be their pump. My factory gauge worked like it allways did the day before I replaced the pump and the day after they changed the pump it runs a whole lot hotter on the same gauge. Thanks for any replies and temps ahead of time.

cannot give you more than what most fords read on stock gauge... between the N and the O .. is all i ever see. these trucks do not run hot and alot of guys for some reson tow w/ out a mechanical fan and it still runs in the normal range.. most engines will run 180-210*F. checked your thermostat??? did you use ford gold coolant??
i would have it checked out on a scanner so that you can see what the ECT reads to the pcm and gauge... unless you want to just replace the cheap $30 sendor.
