I drive a stock 97 f350 with the psd. I am troubleshooting a water pump/ heat problem. Anyone who drives the same year truck and runs the factory temp gauge can help. All I need is for you to post where your truck runs for temp at highway speeds with no load. My truck before the water pump change ran a needle below the N of the word normal. Now it runs at the O. I am trying to put to rest my concearn of a faulty re man part. If any of you guys and gals can post where your needle of the gauge runs I can compare it to mine. Maybe then I can forget about this change in the gauge. THANKS for you info ahead of time.
I drive a 97 F250 PSD and mine has always run at the O in normal at highway speeds, no load. Even ran there when I use to pull a 27' 5ver. Only once pulling that thing up a long steep hill moving to North Carolina did it move to between the O and the R, if that helps.
well before when mine was stock it ran in the center of the o. after d.p. and my cat got ran over it is over the "n" and i get get it up to the o if i am driving fast 75+. other than that it stays below the o always.
your truck is fine i am sure. that matches what i was before. if your worried about it open it up a little by losing the cat and dp. and installing a new dp.
Thanks guys, I feel better now that most trucks normally run at the O setting of the gauge. Hard to figure why it ran cooler before but I am taking it out on a trip this sat and I will be pulling some atv's so we should get a good idea on how the new pump is working. I appreciate the help and if anyone wants to keep posting where your stock gauge runs. Thanks
Thanks guys for your posts. I took the truck out for a three hour drive pulling atvs and she ran solid O on the gauge. Pulled a couple bigger hills and it only rose a bit on the gauge, cooled back down nice and fast. I guess all is good so thanks again for all the help.
