Well. like you said, i did it for functionality and looks. For me, it was more permanent than a magnet mount, but at the same time, it wasnt permanent. I can easily remove the antennas to get in the garage or whatever. Now, that being said, i have not transferred my cb or coax to my new truck. I had a single cophase harness, all one piece. I will need a longer one as teh cab is longer on this truck, and i go from the tool box, under the cab, and through the firewall. Does it make any difference whether the coax is 20', 25', 50', or 23.44623' ??? I cant remember the length of my current one.
Drop all that junk, buy a Wilson Mag mount antenna, run the cable out the cab vents in the rear of the truck, tune to SWR and have a nice day.
Bite your tongue, man! Magmount antennas are the scourge of my existance (followed closely by glass-mounts). Especially when you take a limb strike and the damn thing breaks loose from the roof, flailing about wildly and beating the crap out of your truck until you can get 'er stopped.

It's entirely dependent on whether the antennas have any "smarts" inline (a matching network, etc.) Normally, the rule is odd 1/4-wavelength multiples with absolutely identical lengths on each side of the harness. Usually, 75-ohm coax is used for the individual runs in the phasing harness.
I always call Decibel and order a phasing harness for whatever I'm stacking... dunno about the CB whoop-aerials.
