I just bought a used '011 F-250 S.D. XLT, and sadly, it didn't come with the back up camera. can it be retrofitted? does it have the connectors on the wiring for it to be just connected into place? my rear view mirror has a cable coming out of it that goes into the roof padding. would it be for the mirror display?
is there a connector for the camera in the tailgate? in other words, does it come pre-wired from factory for it?
i will appreciate your input very much. thank you

 

I doubt Ford would install the much more expensive rear view mirror with the display when the purchaser didn't pay for the option [I'm assuming this, vs the purchaser removing various bits from the truck].

As for the rest of the wiring, I have no idea.

 

Unless you're a person who likes to stick to factory equipment exclusively, aftermarket is probably easier and less money.
I replaced the stock stereo head unit over a year ago. The new double DIN unit had plugs for a camera, so I had a local audio shop install a license plate mounted camera.
It's a nice addition for backing up to trailers.
