I have lurked and searched the forums and wasnt able to find anything related to this problem:
I have an 03 EB Expy. OEM Navigation. Rencently I updated from the factory navigation CDs to the current set sold in 05 Expy's. Everything went fine, software updated. Only now when i want to adjust the radio's balance, fade, treble, bass via the menu/audio options button it does nothing. Everything esle works fine, but i simply cant get into the radios audio options page via the menu button.
I have emailed Navteq about this problem and of course they tell me call or take it to ford.
Does anyone know of this problem or maybe a way to force the radio to hard reset/reboot?
hate to resurrect a dead post, but has anyone found a solution to this problem? i, too am having the exact same issue here on my '04 expy EB. if anyone has figured this one out please let me know how you did it, because i am stumped.
You cant update the map cds from a newer Expedition to an older Expedition. In my case i had a 2003 EB Expedition. I bought some 2005 Expedition CD's off ebay and they update the radio ROM when you install them rendering that menu button portion of balance and fade useless. IF you want to update the CDs for Ford navigation you have to buy them from Navteq.
I had the truck at ford who then had me take the truck to the authorized factory radio repair place. They tried for an hour to fix the problem with ford engineers on the phone. The solution at the time was $500 to swap out the head units.
I said to hell with that. A year later when Ford told me they couldn’t communicate with the tire pressure sensor module to sync up new tire pressure sensors, and chasing miss firing spark plugs every other week, I traded that whole turd in for an 2007 F150.
