sync stopped working after speaker/sub install

Need help on Sync problem.

2010 150 supercrew.

took my f150 to the audio shop to install better door speakers, add an amp, and sub box. after the install, the radio plays, but all the sync features are gone. the usb port doesn't even charge my iphone. the voice command button on the steering wheel does nothing. the menu button no longer gives the option to select sync as a source, no bluetooth either...

the audio shop was stumped. they said perhaps the dealer needs to reset it because it the battery was disconnected for so long during the install.

does that make any sense?

this is a very long standing, reputable shop... seems weird that they wouldn't know what's going on?

any advice would be welcome.

This maybe a stupid question but did they check the fuses ? You never know.

I figured so but you never know. Did your truck come with a factory subwoofer? If so you might look at this thread. https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...confusion.html

It sounds like the sync module isn't even plugged in based on the behavior.

Have you tried pulling the fuses for sync for a bit, then plugging them back in?

Yes, we tried that as well as disconnecting the battery for a few min, and reconnecting to see if the system would reset.

Truck is back at the audio shop. They brought their installation honcho, and are going back through the whole thing now. Hopefully they can find something they miss-wired, or didnt connect properly. I'd hate to see how long this whole mess will take if it turns out they fried some Sync module, or something like that which requires replacing OEM parts.

The radio and satellite radio still work, so i'm guessing the head unit is ok? I dont know if there multiple pieces/modules back there, or is it all one big unit?

It's probably multiple pieces (at least my setup is).

Keep us posted, I'll be interested to see what the resolution is.

Sounds like the Head unit does not support a breakout box to keep the factory steering wheel controls. You have to have this box or you lose all the functions. Try looking up the makers website and see if they have one.
