Does any one know where I can get original style roof lights for the cab of my '76. The ones I've seen so far from the sponsor sites don't look the same. The originals are plastic not chrome and are mounted using two screws. I want ones that will use the same mounting holes.
Did you try looking in LMC or JC Whitney. The are not that hard to find. There are two styles. I think they changed them in '78. Make sure you get the right ones.
You can get them at Lmc or your local dealer. The original ones from ford ran all the way from 76 to the late 80,s. There even on some 90,s models i believe.
I just order an LMC catalog. Too bad They won't let you download it. From the selection I saw on their site they did not list roof lights.
JC Whitney did not have the factory style lights.
I guess I keep looking and wait for the catalog to arrive.
I was thinking about trying a dealer. Didn't know that the same lights were used for that long? I'll check the price, if I don't have a heart attack, I'll order from Ford.
How many you looking for? One of my parts trucks (76, crewcab) has these. If I snuck up on her, I could probably snag one er two, without her a knowin'. Can't tell ya the shape their in, but as I remember the lenses aren't broke. Then again, you might be on a complete restore and might be lloking for new ones.
FordPickUP460, Thanks thats them exactly! I sent a question off to the seller maybe I can get these if he's reasonable.
'76Ranger does LMC sell them as a kit , all 5 with the base and all? How much$?
BTB78 - Those chrome ones are listed with most parts places but I would have to drill more holes,
BHawkin2, I didn't see them in the 73-79 catalog were you looking at another catalog?
and finally Mswift, I appreciate your offer but I can't have you sneakin around behind your trucks back! What will the other trucks think! I have a wreckers where I can get some but most are cracked and sun baked so bad they just about crumble in your hands.
I whacked one off of my cab one day due to a low branch and went to a junkyard and couldnt find any that didnt have a bad gasket. If you go to a junkyard, make sure the rubber/foam whatever they are gaskets are in good shape. I dont have a headliner in my 76, so I know if they start leaking.

even if the gasket is bad you can make a new one. they sell the foam/rubber for cheap. also its best when installing them to use silicone sealant on the back to prevent any water from getting underneath.
