Ive always heard the cab lights changed in '78 from the teardrop style to a funky multi-sided deal. On my 79 150 4x4 I have the old style teardrop cab lights. I have been told that they are not correct and I should have the square-ish one (yes its a word in SC). I am the second owner of this truck and I bought it in 99 I honnestly dont believe a 60 yr old farmer changed these out for the older style so what gives? This truck was built in Canada so maybe one of you crazy Cannuck guys put the older style on. I dont know what you like to do. :-P
I found the cab lites! A company called Grote(Grote.com). You can check out their products on line. Part number is 45503. Here is the link for any one interested.
Now the frustrating part was that I had checked the Grote catalog at my NAPA store and it wasn't in there. Grote is distributed by NAPA and CarQuest. I guess the lesson learned is make sure your supplier has a current catalog and then check on line anyways. They cost me $10 a each.
im pretty sure they used the same type lights from 73-96,i have them on my 74,and i got a replacement from an 86, and another time i got a replcement from a 96. i just went to a wrecking yard both times i needed them. the first time i paid $5 the next time i got the light for free.-billy
