I made pretty much the exact same thread in the Ford VS Comp. forum about half hr before this post, then I scroll down the index, and I find this forum. Had no idea it was here, and split 7.3 forums, thats good.
Common rail, bored and stroked 6.0L block, new electronics, staged twin turbo, and around 400 hp, easily attainable 750 ft/lbs of torque. That's what I see.
What's this I here about 4 EGR's? Those things would be off as soon as it rolled into my driveway.
I speculate that with the new regs all these engines will have more cubes, more turbos but lower performance and mileage. The gas engines payed up a few ponies in 72. I suspect the diesels are gonna have to cough up their tithing.
so basically, less mechanical parts to break, but more electrical problems could arise....sounds interesting though. it would be cool to see a cutaway view of one when they come out with it (if they do). are they supposed to be mroe reliable, better fuel efficiency?
And less power loss needed to turn the cam, lifters etc.

This is from the International web site.....
If they add hybrid to big trucks we should be seeing the hybrid systems in the ford PS soon.

ive been looking at a new work rig. i drove a ford lcf yesterday with the 4.5l powerstrok it in has twin turbo and common rail. for a 7000lb 14' cube van it hauls butt....also drove a international hybrid. very very quick acceleration. its kinda wierd to drive. there not readily avalible yet i just know someone at the dealer....i think im gonna get a LCF i didnt get a chance to look to see what they had for egr setup on it though.
There have been some huge numbers mentioned, like 400 HP and 700lbs of tourque for the 6.4. At what RPM is the tourque going to be at. With the six speed manual in the 05 the 570lbs of tourque are hard to use when pulling large loads because you can't keep the truck at 2200 rpms. When you change gears and the rpms drop back to 1500 it takes a while to get back to 2200.
I hope it ios a lot lower in the RPM range. I think the twin turbo set-up will help allow for more low end torque, and keep a long flat broad torque curve, to allow for higher hp output.
BTW, one of the fastest STOCK vehicles I have ever drove was twin turbo'd. It was a 2005 Porsche Cayenne with the twins setup that had them upgraded from the factory to put out over 550hp in a AWD SUV now that was moving!
