I have a 1978 F250 that has a broken drivers side front coil spring. I have a parts truck - a 1976 F150. Is the drivers side front coil spring off of the F150 the same as a drivers side front coil spring off of a F250? Both trucks are 300's with manual transmissions.
If they are different just swap both over so the truck rides the same
I would think they would be close to the same load rating... same engine. The rear leafs are definitely different load rating 3/4 vs 1/2 ton.
Well, I did a little checking on the springs. The '76 F150 has a front GAWR of 2680 lbs and the '78 with the broken spring has a front GAWR of 2700 lbs. The difference is only 20 lbs. What I want to know know is, will the front coil springs bolt up from a 150 to a 250?
>I know 4x4's did > That's what some people call a
>Highboy,correct?
Exactly Mil1ion
The 4x's had front leafs..... the 2x's had coils. The front coils were dependant on original engine/tranny combo weight to a point, if I remember right.
The rear leaf springs were larger/stronger/whatever to make the 2x 150 into the 250 or 350, I am generalizing but what the heck
A highboy is and 4X4 f-250 with a stock 4 inch lift. They only made them till 77. It has both front and rear leaf springs. Plus the four inch blocks in the rear. Very Very nice chassis if i do say so myself.
What year was the F100 and what F250 were the springs from? Are the mounts exactly the same? The reason I ask is I have a 81 F250 and I want to put in F150 springs .
