Thanks Chad, I have the ones I left in your list. Did the washer have a foot pump? That is what I have, just don't have the bag, and any hardware to attach it.

Yes, the foot pump was fairly common. Both of my 1966 4x4 trucks use the foot pump. Working the foot pump simply pressurizes the fluid bag with excess air which then forces the fluid out of the bag through the hoses to the nozzles on the hood. Really simplistic system. But, if the nozzles are clogged you can rupture the fluid bag if you over pump it.

There was no AC option back then?

(I have a 223 equipped F100 and I'm interested in a way to get cold air in the cabin - doesn't have to be fancy with lots of air vents and nozzles, just something to get temps reasonable.)

With any A/C system you would have to have a condensor, compressor, dryer, evaporator and lines, etc.. It's not super simple even if their are no vents or nozzles. But, certainly doable. Some people go with a system like the 1965/66 Mustang used where the head unit in the car/truck hangs underneath the dash. Kits are made that provide an authentic look along with all new components. If you have a 4-speed on the floor the shift lever can inferfere with the head unit but the lever can usually be bent to clear it.

Others opt for a more modern looking system from something like Vintage Air.

Or others. The details are wide open. A person could combine parts of an older system with parts from a newer system (R-12 or R134a components and contamination aside).

One downside to A/C is it will rob some power when the A/C compressor is running. With a 223 engine it might be noticeable but nothing that can't be rationalized.

Thanks for the thoughts - I had an older MB with an AirKing AC that sounds like what you described. The old Mustang setup sounds like I should look into it. I have an unopened 30lb DuPont Freon canister in the garage, so R12 isn't an issue for some time. And the power loss, well, it's not a hot rod, and once I get all three Holleys online, maybe I get back what an AC compressor will rob.
