I was wondering if anyone knew about the options for the 1965 custom cab. I have two different ones. MY F100 has the sweep speedometer in it and the custom heater a blue and black floor mat and a cloth seat with a vinal cap and a hand pump for the windshield washer No radio. My daughters has all that electric winshield washer emergency flashers windshield washers.
Does anyone know where i can get parts to rebuild or replace the hand pump for my washer?
I have never seen a hand pump used for a windshield washer on any 61-66 F100. I suspect that this may be an aftermarket add on by a PO? There are differences in standard cab and custom cab trucks that only Ford could explain. I hesitate to even make a list of general differences because sure as heck someone will have a documented one owner truck that is different than someone else’s. And keep in mind these parts are easily swapped. That hand pump is a new one on me. I'd like to see a picture.
I saw a floor pump on a "65 custom cab that had a FoMoCo stamping but the bag and hoses looked the same as the electric ones. I just figured like William said some PO made it work.
Both trucks are custom cabs if this is an example there were a lot of differences too.
I know the hand pump was made by trico. It is probally po installed the nozles come up through the grill instead of comming through the hood
Ahhhhh...A topic near and dear to me....I got 2 myself, one is soon to be for sale...but my baby is a loaded one less ranger pkg. The C/C package was trim/decor/badging and gauges most likely....I have done a option by option breakdown of the packages...the info I posted if from a 66 dealers manual, I am very anxiously awaiting my 64 and 65 books.
But the C/C package is sweep speedo, most, but not all have the optional alt and oil pres. gauges...I think that could be part of the HD alt/cooling which is part of C/S trucks.
Full foam seat, armrests, upper door panels w/trim, windshield moldings, chrome front bump., Bright grille/h/l doorsC/C script on doors, headliner side molding, horn ring, door scuff plates, dash molding(3 pcs), perforated headliner, floor mat, wheel...color keyed w/column, visors, tutone dash
The deluxe appearance package(optional on std cabs) Is w/shield moldings, bright grill/hdlight doors, door trim panels and horn ring(all this is part of C/C pkg above)
Padded visors from what I can tell as a unit was an option in itself, RH was optional on std cab, part of C/C pkg...I would assume those were the cardboard ones.
The big key to Id ing a C/S truck is the west coast jr mirrors...the extra gauges I noted above 55 amp alt., extra cooling radiator.
The delux heaterIs optional on all except cowls where a delete option available...the delux heater is also part of the custom camper pkg...the C/S packages go from C/S, Custom camper, and deluxe camper package in order from basic to top of the line....Note: the deluxe camper pkg was available on styleside only.the door pockets and bed toolbox are all options period all by themselves...not part of any pkg at all.
The 4 way flashers(called ICC Emerg. Lamp Flasher) is its own option as well...delete option available.the washers it says are std except cowl models, and std was 1 speed, 2 speed optional
The aluminum side moldings and t/light trim are their own option.
Tutone paint was an option too....tutone deluxe though, gave you the side and t/light moldings...
Radio is optional
Seat belts are std on all
dual horns optional, std is single
Hub caps....painted std issue, bright is optional...this is 66 book, Im not sure if bright ones were used in 65....
Padded dash it says are std on cab models....I would assume there was a delete option as many of you have seen trucks in 65-6 w/o them.
The rear contour bumper is optional, painted or chrome as is chrome front bump.
I did notice one little difference I was never aware of...the C/C trucks got white steering wheels, and they do list a dash pad delete option on them.
When I get my 64 and 65 dealer books...about 300 plus pages between them I will give ya all the skivvy as to differences in trim etc....
Its confusing indeed, but that gives ya a pretty good idea as to whats what....this is 66 info mind you, but we all know 65 and 6 are essentially carbon copies aside from grille and the washer stuff(66 washer was part of wiper switch)...
If ya need any more clarification, dont hesitate to drop me a line....I love my 65 and consider myself fortunate to have a loaded beast...no the prettiest, but Im collecting goodies for it...slow but sure....
cs65, Great information. Thank You! I just bought a 66 standard cab with no extra options. This is a real truck and I plan to keep it mostly original. Now I also have two.
Wow Great information I am really wondering if there was a delete option on most of the items. Going from what you said and looking at my F100 I would say it was a custom order. The F250 has most of the bells. I am looking forward to the arrival of your 1965 and 1964 manuales.
there is alot of trim stuff to the C/C package....chrome front bump.,grille, t/light doors, door panels inside w/armrests,paddded visors, perforated headliner w/side aluminum trim around doors and fancier seat trim....as well as the sweep speed cluster and horn ring as opposed to a horn button.
I am finding out very quickly that it is hard to tell differences between he 65 and 66. I have a 66 long box and just bought a 66 short box. The short box has a 65 grill, washer button above key, plug in cowl is metal, round speedo and no padded dash. I thot somebody made a mistake and this was a 65 but vin says 66 built in oct 65. go figure! I think Ford built these trucks with whatever they could grab lol. They are great trucks though
I dont offhand...I could reference you to a couple of pieces of literature....sales brochures....in the full line 65 truck oneform #FDT-6528In the light truck section(f100-350) they have a pic of a 1 ton stake at the bottom left....In another brochure, the 100/250 trucks with blue truck on cover, on the rear there are 2 trucks with cabover campers on them.....those are the mirrors....These are the C/S units....they were shipped loose from Ford and installed at the dealer....part of the C/S package.
As to the 66 with 65 traits...I have seen a 66 with a 65 cab...early 66...used a leftover 65 cab is all...the 66 run was started in August 65....end of 65 run was also August...last 65 was 732,000, 1st 66 was 732001...aug. 66 run ended with 745999.sept ended with 759999,Oct ended with 773999.
CS65-So can a guy make his standard cab a C/C by swapping the instrument panel and steering wheel?--and the chrome windshield trim of course....?
Yes, There is no reference to CC in the VIN, so you can build yourself one.

Your truck could have been in a fender bender or grill bender and it was replaced with a 65.
